“My favorite pair of shoes are these simple, classic leather thong sandals I picked up in Greece at one of the stalls where they sell hundreds of sandals — they were about $6 and I have spent many times over that to repair them. When I wear them, I just feel . . easy. Just easy.”

Cynthia Nixon:
“I have a pair of classic black open toe Manolos — they just seem to go with everything.”

Kim Cattrall:
“Just bought these amazing black Christian Diors, open toe and open back — they have a wonderful texture, a Bottega Veneta-type weave, and they have a little lace in front. I feel like I can wear them with jeans or a casual dress — elegant or just fun to go out in.”

Kristin Davis:
“I bought these graffiti-covered Christian Louboutin flats in Texas. For some reason, people there must not want to wear graffiti shoes, because I got them at a great price. Sarah Jessica scolds me now because they’re so scuffed, I wear them so much!”

Diana Broussard

Diana first came to my attention two summers ago when Jason procured me a pair of the most amazing creme caramel colored sandals with a really unique toe-loop and silver, gold, and rose gold pearls adorning them and a wood stacked three-inch heel that surprisingly easy to walk in. They quickly became one of my fave pairs of summer shoes and I just had them resuscitated once again so they can be my go-to sandals for this summer. Jason summed up those sandals simply by saying, “it’s a shape you never seen before,” which is a great way to describe her entire collection. Originally a jewelry designer, Diana has had stints at Calvin Klein, Dior and Gucci — designing shoes and leather goods under such esteemed designers as John Galliano. This unique view of the world has enabled Broussard to bring a fresh and truly global perspective to her work, and creating a new. luxe twist on chic must-have shoe silhouettes for every woman. Sold at Bergdorf and Kirna Zabete, and now at her own boutique which opened on Christopher street in the West Village (dangerously close to my apartment!). Our winner this week of a new pair of snazzy Eileen Shields creations is: Jennifer — who cracked me up with her ruined shoes story. It sounds like something exactly I would do!

“As you know, it’s a bad idea to text message while driving. Did you ever consider that it may be a bad idea to text while walking as well??

I was wearing a sweet pair of Pollini stilettos while walking through a parking lot, when suddenly WHAM, I stubbed my toe hard and lurched forward. I managed to stay upright but the entire front half of my Pollini fell victim to one of those concrete trapezoids they put at the end of parking spots. Ouch! The sad thing is, I got those $600 shoes on sale for $100 but the repair would probably be nearly as much!”

S&TC FAVORITE SHOE MOMENT

Favorite moment number two is when Carrie has a fabulous new pair of Christian Louboutin’s — hot pink Stiletto sandals with a feather.  She is sailing around Central Park with Big and gets a call from Miranda — she’s in labor.  Carrie rushes to the hospital, and Miranda’s water breaks  . . . right on her new Louboutins. A pair of shoes has died, but a baby is born.

We asked the ever-major Jason Campbell, Editor in Chief of esteemed style bulletin, JCREPORT, if he had ever had a favorite pair of shoes ruined and here’s what he had to say:

“I had a gorgeous paid of sand-colored Dries Van Noten canvas shoes and on a jaunty stroll in Brazil a pigeon relieved itself on these most prized possession. I was gutted but thankfully I have nearly 100 pair of shoes in my footwear arsenal. There’s always another option. But I really do love those Dries lace ups, I’ve never seen them anywhere else.  In fact I still have the shoes with the plans to dye them to camouflage that oh so unpleasant spot de merde.”

DESIGNER PROFILE OF THE WEEK

I first was introduced to shoe designer Eileen Shields about four years ago.  This Irish lass makes fantastic creations, in gorgeous leathers, and continues to innovate every season with new shapes and forms.  Her T-strap mary jane, also known as the Juliette, has become a ubiquitous fashion staple among Hollywood elite from Halle Berry and Drew Barrymore, and she was commissioned personally by Stiletto-lover Eva Longoria herself to create a shoe for her character in Desperate Housewives. (It’s the sassy shoe you see a picture of above).  Spring 08 is gorgeous platforms with cutout peep-toes, lucite heels and elegant strappy sandals in materials like mirror platinums and rich suedes, with pitch-perfect detailing from a feather to a twisted leather bow.  We look forward to Fall with baited breath.
