MISS MEGHAN’S SHOE VIDEO – ANGELINA JOLIE, ELLE FANNING AND MORE
Just an FYI!
We had a few technical difficulties with this one — so about halfway through my voice doesn’t sync up with my lips! But if you close your eyes you can listen to it like a podcast!!
Hey everyone — loved this story — the Kansas University men’s basketball coach Bill Self and Jayhawk basketball star Scot Pollar put themselves in red stilettos to pose for the Red Shoe Calendar benefitting The Willow Domestic Violence Center. He and a bunch of other very manly men put on their high heels and I loved what Sally Hare-Schriner, fundraising chairwoman for the Willow Center, said how it is all calendar is based on the idea that you have to walk a mile in someone’s shoes to understand their issues. The power of the shoe!
In other shoe news, Elle Fanning, Dakota’s younger sis showed up to the premiere of Somewhere in some SERIOUS red carpet shoes — diamante-encrusted Valentino mules with her couture Valentino dress. I loved her look on multiple levels — a) she looked age appropriate which is super hard to do int his day and age b) she looked liked herself and very natural and c) the mules were not some over the top hooker platform stilettos but instead very appropriate both for her age and the dress and total look. We are going to see a lot more mules — be on the lookout as retro-fem really starts to trend come springtime.
The biggest shoe story this week of course is Angelina Jolie in The Tourist. She showed up to set with a pair of her favorite Ferregamos, and her oscarw inning costume designer Colleen Atwood decided to use them in the movie for her character Elise and bought three pairs in black, camel and pink — they are three and a half inch stilettos with a hard metallic detailing on the stiletto heel — and Angelina did almost all her stunts in them. What I love is that Ms. Atwood then based the entire costuming for her character on the shoes!
And they have now been re-named the Elise and are available at the Salvatore Ferragamo NYC flagship for a mere $750 should you want a pair!

Elle’s Valentino mules are to die for; the beading, the bow, what’s not to love??
