MILAN DISPATCH: DAY 4

No Comments | Posted in Misc

Ciao bellas!

It is sunny and warm(er) for my last day here a Milano. I saw the gorgeous Swiss alps today on my way into the fair and it is truly a breathtaking sight.

Yesterday we did the international press conference and together with Vito, awarded Alessandro Meucci and his partner Rose Holger from Tokyo the first place prize in the first ever ANCI Creativity Awards. I had a chance to meet Alessandro and Rose before the conference — they had flown in from Tokyo the night before and were going to fly right back out today but they were very excited to be here. Rose wore her Bruno Magli brown and white spectator pumps that she had on in the video as well. I wore my Giuseppe Zanotti taupe patent stilettos with the hybrid heel.

Afterwards, Fabio, Piers, Alessandro, Rose, Aldo, Silvia and the team from Zooppa headed down to lunch starting with prosecco and ending of course with cappuccino – with a little olive bread in between — because that’s how we roll here in Milan.

Then I took Silvia, Rose and Allessandro for a little tour on the floor. We hit Nicolina first — made in Marche. I really liked the purple python mary jane peep toe stiletto. I also really liked the Callier swiss chocolates Jeremy the designer gave us. But I think I liked the shoe more than the chocolate if I had to rank them in order, in case you were wondering!

Next we checked in on Beatrix Ong where they are doing some holographic lizard and also some origami bow detailing. Hello, Meow.

Then we booked over to Fiorentini and Baker – Made in Florence – a brand I have been intensely interested in as they are uber-popular in LA. They were sooo busy and writing crazy orders which was great to see.

Walking the show floor, there were a lot of busy booths, Ballin one of my faves, doing well too.

Next it was back to finish my blog entries and grab a glass of vino bianchi before getting ont he train back to the hotel. Dinnertime found us at Quattrocento, seriously one of the most beautiful relaxing places I have ever been with food that was quite special. I sampled passitto after dinner dinner — a sweet wine made on the Sicilian island that Armani owns. I decided to call it Armani port.

Finally caught up with the guys who work with Momo (at a crazy club next to a store that sold only — get this — M+M’s. an entire store devoted to M+M’s, M+M t shirts, bags, hats) turns out one of the guys is married to the daughter of Rene Caovilla! How cool is that? He recognized me from the video I made about Italian stilettos – what?! We made a date for me to come and check out their factory in Venice which I am molto looking forward to.

Now am at the press office and heading back into town for lunch with Gianmarco Lorenzi and his gang on Montenapoleone, going to hit Corso Cormo and then back to hotel to pack and put together all the amazing lookbooks I have. Flying out tomorrow morning to LA, I will miss MICAM, Milano and all the shoes. Being in this amazing place full ofbeatrix-ongbeatrixfiorentini_and_baker 72,000 square meters of shoes, with passionate people full of love for footwear is seriously rejuvenating. Shoe Therapy, people.

I do recommend you try it yourself.
