Meghan Cleary, shoe expert and author of the book, “The Perfect Fit: What Your Shoes Say About You,” says Uggs have grown from a brand into a distinct shoe category.
“Everyone has a pair of workout shoes, and now everyone has a pair of Uggs,” Cleary said. “There’s no sign of letting up.”

Cleary hasn’t seen a spike in the number of men wearing Uggs, but her studies in New York City and Las Vegas show that the footwear is more popular than ever for women, especially teens and young adults. The ubiquitous nature of Uggs concerns her.
“Uggs have brought about a decline in fashion, because all of a sudden you’re seeing people dressing down to match their shoes,” she said. “I think it’s OK if you’re wearing them in a tongue-in-cheek manner, but they’re not meant to be worn in every situation.”
Cleary says the boots mess up the silhouette of a woman’s leg by breaking it up with horizontal lines. The criticisms, while valid, aren’t likely to stop people from sliding their sockless toes into the soft sheepskin” … Read article here.
